what is "design"?

what is design? the creation of a plan or convention for the construction of an object, system or measurable human interaction.

any design starts with a mark.

this is one of the first marks: a signature, early homo sapiens blows a reddish powder on his hand on the cave's wall to leave his imprint for posterity.

this is a formidable monumental massive mark. the pyramids in Egypt.

which can be schematized as follows:

a modern mark? take the famous rietveld chair (i own one),

which started as a plan,
