This Friday: Abramovic at FIU (mandatory)

Tomorrow we'll not meet at Merrick. Instead, we'll meet Friday, March 30, at 8pm at FIU (south campus), for Marina Abramovic's lecture at the Frost Museum. This is a mandatory event and I'll take attendance. The lecture takes place at the Green Library, GL 100. Here is a map of FIU South Campus with driving directions. If you have any questions post them here and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

i'm just curious around waht time you think it may be over. I have a concert to attend at 10 in downtown. I know fiu is quite a distance...and is there any type of attire we should wear? thanks alot...

I think it should be over by 9. What you can do is be there for a portion of her lecture. The attire can be casual.

I just have to share this. I told the woman I refer to as Supergirl about the Abromovic performance with consuming a liter of wine and honey and cutting a star into her stomach. She said, "I know I guys in the Air Force who will do that for a dollar."

F: Don’t be fooled by the props and feat; performance art is more about the process, not the result. But because it’s about the here and now, in the end, each moment remains as a part of a whole.

AT, just as a thought experiment, I want you imagine saying what you just said to an armed Air Force staff sergeant.

F: Cool (I laughed). Fortunately, art is not the military.
